Open joint-stock
company Aeroflot Russian Airlines was established in July
1992. The company’s founder, the government of the Russian
Federation, owns 51 per cent of stocks, 49 per cent is held
by the company’s employees and other legal entities.
In June 2000,
the annual stockholders meeting changed the name of the company
to Aeroflot Russian Airlines, which corresponds better to
the status and profile of Russia’s national airline company.
Aeroflot is the
country’s largest airline company that makes 60 per cent of
all international regular flights to 66 destinations in 49
countries worldwide and over 11per cent in the home market,
including
- 25 destinations
in Europe — 35 regular flights,
- 13 countries
in South-Eastern Asia, Africa, the Near and Middle East —
16 regular flights,
- 8 CIS countries —
9 regular flights,
- 6 destination
points — in America and Canada.
Since 1970 Russian
Federation is a member of International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO), and since 1989 its national airline company —
Aeroflot — is a member of International Air Transport
Association (IATA).
15,000 employees
work for the company including about two thousand air specialists,
more than five hundred of them are aircraft commanders.
Aeroflot has
the largest in Eastern Europe flight control center (FCC).
The entire process of flight control is automated in on-line
operation mode; this enables to provide high safety of flights
(99.95 per cent) and to meet the level of the most effective
airline companies of the world.
The prior Company’s
missions are:
- to provide
flight safety;
- to increase
service quality for Aeroflot customers on land and aboard;
- to develop
business-structures and labor management in the company;
- to strengthen
financial positions in the market of international and home
carriages.
